Museums that heavily depend on paid admission and memberships often rely on equally complex (and often legacy) applications to run their business. Each of these enterprise applications are often aged codebases running as on-premise islands to themselves or worse… walled gardens. Individual teams operate in isolation and “data integration” is more import/export or five-figure add-on software than API.
The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago has recently gone through a rapid evolution of our guest-facing and behind-the-scenes platforms, replacing and integrating our ticketing, CRM (x2), marketing automation and accounting platforms in less than 20 months. With Ticketure running ticketing and membership and Salesforce consolidating our guest knowledge, we’ve quickly become a far more coordinated and data-driven organization.
In this session, we’ll talk through the often parallel paths to how we arrived where we are and dig into the processes and partners we chose and why. We hope to spark a broader conversation with attendees from organizations large and small to share their experiences as well.
