Write Your Story

The installation “Write Your Story” (WYS) was developed for the exhibition Sharing Worlds – the Nobel Prize in Literature, which was shown at La Mer in Dubai in February 2019. It is an interactive writing app designed to stimulate the visitors’ creativity and showcase the works of Nobel Laureates.

The exhibition was centered around eight novels by Nobel Laureates, representing eight themes: Peace, City, Human Condition, Life, Family, Tolerance, Fairy Tales and Love. Each of the eight books was also represented by an artwork created by four different artists. These books, themes and artworks were the foundation for the content in WYS.

In WYS the visitors were encouraged to create their own picture books by combining sceneries, characters and objects from the eight novels in the exhibition. The content had different designs depending on which artist had made the artwork for the theme it represented. In the app there were short texts with information about the sceneries, characters and objects, but also short films about the authors, novels and themes. After the book was written it was shared in the exhibition library where other visitors can read it. There were four WYS-stations and libraries in the exhibition, and the content created in all four of stations could be accessed in all four libraries. The visitors could also e-mail a pdf version of the book to themselves. The storyboard shows the visitor journey through the installation.
