Thursday, April 04, 2019: 8:00am - 9:00am - Grand Ballroom Foyer: Networking Continental Breakfast

Jean Moylan, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, USA

Like many art museums, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum generates a large quantity of internally-produced video content for both promotional and archival purposes. From documentation of time-based media and installation art to recordings of performances, lectures and symposia, these materials are rich in information and documentary value. But with limited resources and complex, multi-departmental production workflows, it can be challenging for cultural heritage institutions to activate their digital audiovisual assets as fully as they might like. Jean Moylan, a 2018-19 National Digital Stewardship Residency for Art Information fellow at the Guggenheim, will present on her efforts to improve the Museum’s institution-wide preservation and access infrastructures for all digital audiovisual assets, with a specific focus on preparing backlogged archival video assets for online access via YouTube and other social media channels.
